Anza During Stone Uprising 1987

During the period prior to  the first stone uprising in 1987 in the west bank and Gaza strip, the Palestinian national spirit has been walked up as refusal to sad situation resulted from the period after Lebanon war in 1982 and what has been occurred of killing against Palestinian people and the war against Palestinian refugees camps in Lebanon. The stone uprising came up as popular rejection to such situation

 

The first actual confrontation occurred it was  four months prior to the uprising by the students of the elementary school for boys against the patrols of Israeli police who came to the school to arrest some students. A large number of students threw stones causing glass broking . As a result , the occupation police has arrested some teenagers not more than 15 years old.

 

During the first weeks of the uprising , no confrontation happened against occupation forces but with the ignition of the uprising steadily, youths started to erect stone barriers on Jenin – Nablus road and closed it by tiers in front of traentnsport means to prevent occupation forces and settlers from crossing the street.

 

The first real confrontation occurred in 15/03/1988 following the announcement of  uprising youth in Anza that the village is liberated place . As a result, the enemy has sent four military Jeeps backed by helicopter and entered the village from two sides. During this confrontation, one student named Alam Nasrallah was martyred and other boys got injured.

 

With the death of the first man from the village of Anza at the beginning of uprising, the spirit of resistance became stronger than before in the light of international sympathy. It was offset by the repressive police of the occupation authorities. After that , the uprising became in the daily life of Anza.
